ACCLIMATION AND WHY?

This is oh so important step is often overlooked or misunderstood. It does not take long to accomplish the goals of being within 5 degrees of the home environment, 3 is better. But most important is the chemistry, one tank in your home is not the same as the others, they will differ. Even more so when you're talking about different areas, even from one city to another. The water parameters at the source will vary, the pollutant level will vary, you must give them a chance to adjust their body via osmoregulation adapting to the new chemistry of their new home... this takes time and your help in the beginning sets this up for success.

Temperature – Livestock are able to tolerate swings of up to 5 degrees, when it comes to temp less change will always be better.

Chemistry – This is the killer, this is what will stress a fish allowing undesirables to get a foot hold leading to their demise.

Why? – You have just purchased a PET, be responsible for the life you have just committed to caring for!
